Rewiring Your Brain

In the past, we have presented ideas about “Neuroplascitity” or how to rewire you brain. Dan Siegel, author of Mind Sight discusses ways to create new circuits in your brain to change your experience. This process can work for you or against you. For example, if you are constantly worried, focusing on pain, fear and failure, you are actually strengthening those brain circuits. The good news is that the inverse is also true. Once you engage positive thoughts, your imagination, confidence building or positive images, you “wire” these events also. Once you channel your thoughts and energy in a different direction, your body responds. Since your body follows your mind, why not give it a sense of peace, calm and comfort. Reassuring yourself will help wiring together these new thoughts, feelings and images.

This slide from Dr. Siegel shows this very succinctly how this process work. To put this into practice, spend a few minutes each day on gratitude, self-esteeming building thoughts or actions, and imprint your brain with these concepts.

This concept is working from the inside to impact your brain to inspire change and imprint these new concepts.
